How to mirror iPhone to Fire TV Stick without Apple TV?

You want to watch something on the big screen, but your iPhone and Fire TV Stick do not seem to want to work together. No Apple TV, no AirPlay support on Fire TV — so what do you do? The good news is that screen mirroring to Fire TV from an iPhone is completely possible, and you do not need any extra hardware to make it happen. This guide walks you through everything, from setup to fixing common problems, so you can start casting in minutes.

What you need before you start mirroring

Before you dive in, take a moment to check that you have everything in place. Skipping this step is the most common reason mirroring does not work on the first try.

  • An iPhone running a recent version of iOS
  • An Amazon Fire TV Stick (any generation) plugged in and powered on
  • Both your iPhone and your Fire TV Stick connected to the same WiFi network
  • A screen mirroring app installed on your iPhone that supports Fire TV

That last point is important. Fire TV does not natively support AirPlay, which is Apple’s built-in mirroring technology. That means you need a dedicated app to bridge the two devices. The WiFi requirement is also worth double-checking — if your iPhone is on a 5GHz band and your Fire TV is on a 2.4GHz band (or vice versa), they will not find each other. Log in to your router settings or check your phone’s WiFi name to confirm they match.

Connect your iPhone to Fire TV Stick with AirBeamTV

We built our iPhone to Fire TV mirroring app specifically to handle this connection without any cables, Apple TV, or complicated setup. Here is how to get connected.

  1. Open the Amazon App Store on your Fire TV Stick and search for AirBeamTV.
  2. Download and install the AirBeamTV app on your Fire TV Stick.
  3. Open the AirBeamTV app on your Fire TV. You will see a screen with a code or a waiting prompt — leave this open.
  4. On your iPhone, go to the App Store and download the Mirror for Fire TV app from AirBeamTV.
  5. Open the app on your iPhone. It will automatically scan your WiFi network for your Fire TV Stick.
  6. When your Fire TV appears in the list, tap it to connect.

After tapping your Fire TV in the list, the app on your iPhone will confirm the connection. You should see your iPhone screen appear on the TV within a few seconds. If nothing shows up after 10 seconds, check that both devices are still on the same WiFi network and try again.

Start screen mirroring and cast your content

With the connection established, you are ready to start casting. At this point, whatever appears on your iPhone screen will show up on your TV in real time.

  1. In the Mirror for Fire TV app on your iPhone, tap Start Mirroring.
  2. iOS will ask for permission to broadcast your screen. Tap Start Broadcast to confirm.
  3. Navigate to any app on your iPhone — a video, a photo gallery, a website, or a streaming service.
  4. The content will appear on your Fire TV screen automatically.

For the best experience, keep your iPhone plugged in while mirroring, since screen casting uses more battery than normal. Also, avoid locking your phone screen during a session — if your iPhone goes to sleep, the mirror will pause. You can adjust your auto-lock settings under Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock and set it to “Never” while you are casting.

You are now mirroring your iPhone to your Fire TV Stick with full audio and video. Browse your content as you normally would, and it will all appear on the big screen.

Fix common iPhone to Fire TV mirroring problems

Even when the setup looks right, things can sometimes go sideways. Here are the most common problems people run into and how to sort them out quickly.

The app cannot find your Fire TV

This almost always comes down to WiFi. Confirm that both your iPhone and your Fire TV Stick are connected to the exact same network name. If you have a router that broadcasts both a 2.4GHz and 5GHz network with different names, make sure both devices are on the same one. Restarting both your router and your Fire TV Stick can also clear up connection issues that appear out of nowhere.

The screen is laggy or keeps dropping

A weak WiFi signal is usually the cause. Try moving your router closer to the TV, or move your iPhone closer to the router during the session. If other devices are streaming on the same network at the same time, that can slow things down too. Closing unused apps on your iPhone before mirroring also helps free up processing power.

There is no sound on the TV

Check that your iPhone is not on silent mode and that the volume is turned up. Also confirm that the volume on your Fire TV remote control app is not muted. If sound is still missing, close the mirroring session, restart both apps, and reconnect.

The image looks stretched or cut off

This can happen if your TV’s aspect ratio settings are off. On your Fire TV, go to Settings > Display & Sounds > Display and make sure the resolution matches your TV’s native resolution. Most modern TVs work best at 1080p.

If you have worked through all of these and something still is not right, a full restart of your iPhone, Fire TV Stick, and router will resolve most leftover issues. Unplug the Fire TV Stick from the wall for 30 seconds before plugging it back in for a proper reset.
